5/31    A Foggy day in Missouri...... Game of Cards anyone?
Fogg stepped up to the table
and dealt out 6 1/3 innings of fine pitching to chalk up the 6th win of his
rookie season

save. Pirates muster up 11 hits collectively, C. Wilson went 4-4 with 2 RBIs, the Cards folded to the Bucs 3-1.
6/4    A 5-2 victory over Montreal. Hermansen knows how we do
things in the 'Burgh and leads off the game with a homer. Mackowiak slams
2 over the fence (7th and 8th of the season). C. Wilson, J. Wilson and
Mackowiak beaned by Expos pitcher Pavano, Giles beaned by Expos pitcher
Lloyd. Win goes to Jimmy Anderson, save goes to M. Williams. Also on this
day, Pirates draft RHP Bryan

things around here, another lead off homer. (I'm gonna start calling this
guy Chad HOMERsen) KY also with a HR (5), and Pokey Reese in the bottom of the 8th, with Osik on base, nails his first homer of the season to
break a 3-3 tie and make it 5-3. Buccos go on to win it 5-4, and sweep
the Brewers. Sauerbeck gets the win (2-0), M. Williams gets the save (19).

inning. Next batter: KY. Yard. Back-to-back. A joint effort. Jimmy Anderson stoned the Reds up to the 9th inning but gave up 1 run in
the bottom of the 9th. Bucs roll over the Reds 5-1 (but lose the series
2-1).
6/19    A 3-2 loss vs the Oakland A's. Giles = solo homerun.
A beautiful day and entertaining game for the 30,562 at PNC Park. (Snuggs
in attendance)
6/23    Buccos turn 5 double plays and collect 10 hits to ice

night, yes, I went down to the stadium and it was sold out, I did not get
a Bobble-Head or a seat to the game......very bitter) and despite their 4
runs off of 8 hits, they lose to our Battlin' Bucs, 7-4. Giles went 2-4

base and 2 runs scored. Bucs on top, 6-2. Benson's 2nd win of the season
(2-4), Williams gets the save.
7/1    A tough 2-0 loss to the Brewers. Wells pitched a
no-hitter up to the 8th inning, then gave up 2 hits and 1 run. Thats all
the Brewers needed, for the Bucs only had 3 hits and no runs. Wells takes
the loss (9-5). (Snuggs in attendance) 7/3    A Foggy day for Milwaukee fans. The Brew Crew en route
to sweeping the Bucs, when
Snuggs puts his foot down and says, "If the Brewers sweep the Pirates, I
will not attend another Pirate game until we sweep someone else." Well,
that's all the Pirates had to hear. Giles and Ramirez HR, Bucs infield
turned 3 double plays, Buccos deny sweep with 3-1 score infront of 32,309
people on fireworks night. Fogg got the win (9-6), Williams got the save
(24). (Snuggs in attendance, now 2-2)

human being on the planet ever to hit a homerun into the Allegheny River on a fly. Estimated 479 feet grand-slam that blew the Buccos out of the
water with the final score 10-2. Pirates commit 3 errors (KY 2, Nunez 1),
S. Lowe charged with a balk. Wells takes the loss (9-6).
*** ALL STAR BREAK ***
ALL STAR BREAK *** ALL STAR BREAK *** 7/9    All Star Game: Mike Williams represented the Pirates
well (our only representative), he relieved starter Curt Schilling in the
top of the 3rd. 1 IP, 0 hits, 2 strike outs, 1 ground out,
and 0 ER. The game ended up being a 7-7 tie at the end of 11 innings. Commissioner Selig called for the end of the game to prevent injury and
also due to the lack of remaining pitchers (which was zero). This
was the 73rd All Star Game and only the 2nd to end in a tie (1961 tied
also)
7/11    First of 4 game series in Milwaukee. Fogg pitched 7

to ice the game. KY and Hyzdu both had 3 runs, and Reese and Giles both
had 2. Sauerbeck got the win (3-0).
7/20    Ohhh what a night, and an offensive enslaught. Yet
another slug fest at PNC Park, both the Cards and Bucs with 14 hits each. Kendall went 2-3 with a run scored, Ramirez: 2 hits, 2 runs, and an RBI,
Nunez solo homer in the 7th, but the player of the game was Adam Hyzdu.
The first inning with 2 on Hyzdu homers-du, then again in the 5th inning
with 2 on. He had 7 RBIs, 3 runs, and 4 hits out of 5 at bats. Benson got
the win, Buccos won 15-6.
7/21    Bucs lose to the Cardinals 8-4. Giles slid hard into
2nd base, then Fogg pitched inside to Edmonds and Edmonds yelled at Lloyd
McClenndon which led to the benches and bullpens clearing. Later on in the
game Giles again slides hard into 2nd and again the benches and bullpens
clear. No fights ensue. Fogg took the loss (10-7). 7/30    A rocky road for Rockies fans....Kendall, Giles, and
Hyzdu all go
2-3 totalling all of the 6 Bucco hits. Giles with a double, triple, and RBI,

on only 3 hits, struck out 5, and was awarded the win (4-5), Williams the
save (31). Bucs beat Colorado 4-1.
7/31    Rocky Road ice cream anyone? 12 Bucco hits lead to 7

than the 10 Rockie hits and 6 Rockie runs. Giles 2-3, 2 doubles and 3
RBIs, Mackowiak 2-3 with a homer (12) and 3 RBIs, Fogg pitched 5 innings but let up 5 runs, Boehringer got the win (3-3), Williams the save (32). Bucs
win 7-6. (Snunggs in attendance)
8/2    The Giants pay a regretful visit to the steel city. 11
hits per team, but the difference came in the runs department. Mackowiak
and Hyzdu both homered, Giles 2 doubles 2 RBIs. In the top of the 9th the
score read 5-4 Giants. With 2 outs and the count 0-2, Kendall singled.
Still 2 outs, J.Wilson at bat with an 0-2 count once again.....singled to
left field, Kendall to second. Mr. Giles stepped up to the
plate.....and.....doubled!! Kendall scored the knotting run and Wilson
scored the winning run. Rob Nen did not get the save (man did he blow it), but did get the loss. Boehringer got the win (4-3). Back to the runs
department: 7-6 in favor of the Bucs.
8/6    A Foggy day in LA, our own Fogger pitched 7 1/3
innings, allowing only 1 run to collect his 11th win this year, then
McClenndon yanked him (what a fool) and put in Boehringer (for no
apparent reason) who pitched to 2 batters. And then came Williams with yet
another save (33). Hyzdu, Young, and Kendall all solo-ed for the Bucs' 3
runs. A line drive/fly ball nailed Giles on the forehead at which point
Hyzdu picked up the ball and tallied an outfield assist throwing out the
runner at third. Giles not charged with an error, just embarassment and a headache. Go get em Brian. Bucs won 3-1.
8/20    Solo homeruns by Giles, C.Wilson, Hyzdu, Ramirez, and
Mackowiak. 7IP, 1 hit allowed, 0 runs, and 4 Ks from Benson's moundal
duties,
appropriately awarded the win (5-6), Kendall 3 RBIs, Buccos win 8-0.
Snuggs' record: 4-6
